This Might Not Be for You

This morning “The Funk” stood by my bedside as I woke up. No, I wasn’t frightened or afraid. Funk’s mission was to block my path with a “dejected mood.” No real reason.

You see, Funk loves it when we shrink from doing life or facing the day with hope, purpose, and positivity. Thankfully, it’s quite rare in my experience. Of course, it was totally unexpected and an uninvited visit. I pushed back.

This video may not be for you

Yesterday, my son-in-law, Jeffrey sent a link to an interview Lisa Salters did on ESPN for “The Best Stories in Sports” show.  I understand you really don’t have time for it. This video is too long for today’s attention span — 11 minutes too long.

But what if you could sit on the porch and listen to the stories? Could it be what we need in our noisy, 24-hour news cycle and Twitter world?

This story may not be for you

Because it comes from the “World of Sports.” But it’s really about life. It’s a story about set-backs, disappointment, pain, fighting for something that matters, and making a difference. It’s about influence. Leadership.

So for today, only one person needs to open this and be encouraged to make it worth the effort.

Now, about the story

Former NBA star, Penny Hardaway, comes alongside his long-time friend, Desmond Merriweather to coach Lester Middle School Lion’s basketball team.

If it’s for you, rip the paper off, be encouraged, and beat the funk.

Create Space for Reflection

Who is on the sideline with you?

Or, who will you join on the sideline just for today?

Here’s to your Story,

Steve
