What’s Eating You?

February 26, 2015 by Steve Laswell

Perhaps you saw “Jaws.” If not, (I didn’t) here’s the story line.

Martin Brody is the police chief of Amity, an island resort town somewhere in New England. One summer morning, Brody is called to the beach, where the mangled body of a summer vacationer has washed ashore. The medical examiner tells the chief it could have been a shark that killed the swimmer.

The Mayor, who…

What don’t you see?

Looking outside

To explore the world outside you requires a change of pace and perspective; yes, an open heart and mind.

So, how curious are you about what lies outside you? What about the people you work with, curious about their weekend? What about the work you do, wonder how to be more effective?

What might you be missing?

What inspires and recharges your batteries? Now, how often do you engage in…

Who you will become

January 2, 2014 by Steve Laswell

“Your height is a blessing,” his grandmother assured him. Teased by his classmates as the tallest kid in class, Kevin wasn’t so sure.

His mother, Wanda, encouraged his participation in sports. Raising her family in Suitland, Maryland – a tough neighborhood outside Washington, D.C. – she hoped team sports would help keep him and his brother Anthony, out of trouble. She created the opportunity for…

Fighting cancer had been a two-year battle. The aggressive nature of this disease made the doctor’s words prophetic, “If we don’t get it all, we’ll be chasing it…”

Like a boxer, with each blow Betty kept getting back up. First,…

Alone on a lonely road, a 12 year-old boy shows up in hot pursuit.   (Video 1:02)

Greatness is within his reach, it isn’t “just for them.”

What are you in pursuit of…?

Aidan

He blows off the dusty harmonica and takes off his hat; this 12 year-old boy sees opportunity to serve. To inspire a movement is his hope.  Be prepared to be amazed… (Video 3:42)

What’s the hurry?

June 19, 2013 by Steve Laswell

 (Video 1:14)

No alarm clock was needed. I woke up realizing, “We’re in Kansas.”  Father’s Day weekend pulled my heart and then my feet home.

We spent Saturday night at Rita’s parents on “the farm.” With my journal and briefcase deposited on the deck, I grabbed my coffee mug fully anticipating time to write. Yep, I might even review some work I brought along, just in case….
